The Cat's Code

We welcome newcomers as the most valued members of our community.

Anyone can ask anyone to dance.

If someone asks you to dance, you have the right to decline without sharing a reason. Please consider doing so politely. If someone declines, be cool! You can ask someone else :)

The social dance floor is not the place to offer unsolicited advice on a partner's dancing unless your partner is dancing in a way that is making you uncomfortable or is endangering you or other dancers. If that is the case, be direct with feedback.*

No Aerials. Even if you know how to do them safely, you may inadvertently inspire someone who does not.

This is a dance community, not a dating app. Be mindful of the difference. It is not uncommon for someone who is looking for a romantic relationship to join a dance community. We recommend focusing on the dancing and bringing your best self to the community first. Leave the pick up lines at the door.

If someone is behaving in a disrespectful or creepy manner that falls below the standard expected of an adult, moral person, let an instructor or staff member know so that we can deal with the situation swiftly. If you prefer, can also email Neil & Sarah at catscornerswingfoco@gmail.com if you have a concern. We look out for each other at Cat's Corner. Let's build a world class dance community together.*

*Cat's Corner Swing would like to thank the Mobtown Ballroom and Gotta Swing for inspiring the Cat's Code.
