Kat & Amos Rose
Blues

Kat and Amos, partners in life and in dance, are a dynamic teaching and dancing duo known for their musicality, connection, and warmth. Based in Colorado, they’ve taught, DJed, organized, and danced Blues across the U.S. and internationally. Together, they create joyful, grounded spaces that help dancers grow in confidence, creativity, and connection in Blues.

It was the fall of 2004 when Kat (she/her) and her dad, Norm, rented a VHS from the local library on How To Learn the Lindy Hop so they could attend an upcoming NYE Swing Dance. Did Norm know he was introducing his daughter to her life-long love of social dancing? Did he know Kat would find herself dancing to the Blues as well as Lindy? Did he know she’d end up traveling to dozens of dance events across the world and throw dance house parties and DJ for Blues dances and organize dance workshops and then marry a dancer and have dancer babies and then travel internationally to teach and learn and dance the Blues all over the world?!!?!? No, he did not. But now he does, because Kat still talks to him pretty much every day.

Since he started blues dancing in 2007 Amos has spent as much time as possible traveling to events, learning from the best instructors in the business, and teaching at venues in his local scenes in Colorado as well as Nationally. He has developed a unique style that reflects the music he loves to dance to, ranging from high energy to sassy, and from jazzy to hard hitting. Amos has been competing at national blues events since 2009 and has taken titles at Blues SHOUT!, Mile High Blues, Austin Blues Party, and North Star Blues to name a few. In class, Amos emphasizes functional, natural movement and effective partnered connection and is passionate about sharing his love of dancing and music with his students.
